Le Domaine du Cassard

The Domain of Cassard is a story of family.

Since 1947, after two generations and succcessifs purchases of plots of land, Bernard Billières has continued to pass on to his son Erick his knowledge and the exploitation, compound of 16Ha of red and 6 Ha of white, in January, 2010.

In December of the same year, the Domain gets bigger by the purchase of the Domain of Four Winds: 15Ha of red and 5Ha of white perfectly exposed on the nearby hillside.

The Vineyard is situated  to the North of Blaye (65 km in the North of Bordeaux) on south-facing stony  outcrops, whose very well-drained soil is perfectly suited to the cultivation of quality wines.

This very dry ground suits perfectly in the culture of quality vine.

The nearly estuary of the Gironde,  with its temperate maritime climate, provides excellent conditions for the  ripening of our grapes.

Dominated initially by the Colombard  and the white Ugni graps, it is replantation since about twenty years in noble vine of the Bordeaux region:

- For red: red Merlot 60 %, Cabernet Sauvignon 30 %, Malbec 5 %, Cabernet frank 5 %

- For the whites: Sauvignon 70 %, Sémillon 25 %, Muscadelle 5 %

The variety  allows us to blend numerous products:

Blaye Côtes of red Bordeaux, Blaye Côtes of white Bordeaux, Bordeaux Clairet, Cremating of raw or dry Bordeaux.

Numerous awards in the Competitive examination of Paris, affirmed  our desire to change and modernize the property, where our technique of wine making and the quality of the soil allows  us to obtain wines appreciated by all.

Our marketing consists of  visits and the tastings at our vineyard,  sales at the markets of La Palmyre, Meschers and Royan, home deliveries and  export.

These have all allowed us to build up the loyalty of  private clientele situated both in France (85 %) and abroad (15 %).
